Making Music in the Car

Making Music in the Car

Simplicity can be great for creativity…

I started a song during a family trip to Monterey in August of this year.

The only equipment I brought was my laptop and a pair of headphones.

I love making music this way with a limited/stripped-down setup. Sometimes, I’ll make music just lying in bed with the same stuff, and it’s dope.

It’s a house song that uses randomized octaves and automated note lengths to create cool movement in the melody, as well as a choir vocal pack that generates random chord voicings.

Weekly Music Recommendation:

“Beyond Beliefs” by Ben Bohmer

I listen to this song all the time while studying, working, and relaxing. It is so soothing to listen to but keeps your interest at the same time with intricate production, a 4-on-the-floor beat, and feel-good joyful harmony. You can literally discover something new every time you listen to it if you listen closely, but you don’t need to listen closely to enjoy it. That’s the beauty of it.
